San Antonio Doctor to Run for U.S. Senate Seat

By February 10, 2009

Current Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison will run for governor next term, meaning there will be a vacant U.S. Senate seat in 2010.

Local physician Dr. Alma Aguado has announced plans to run and has formed an exploratory committee and funding plan.

It will be Aguado's first foray into politics, and she intends to make a splash. Her platform will consist largely of public health issues such as teenage pregnancy and sex education.

Will this type of forward thinking make the conservatives in Texas cringe, or are people ready to make changes? Her success in this race could answer that question.

For more information about Dr. Aguado and her Senate bid, you can visit her official website.
