San Antonio Housing Market Named 4th Healthiest in Nation

By February 20, 2009

If you are like me, there are more 'For Sale' signs than you would like to admit in your neighborhood. This isn't a recent phenomenon, but one that has been going on for the better part of two years now.

Despite the houses up for sale, there really is good news when it comes to San Antonio housing. With the constant influx of military and a recent report of 1,000 jobs being brought to San Antonio by USAA, lots of houses will be bought and sold soon in S.A.

But there is even more good news, if you can believe it. According to Builder Magazine, San Antonio is the fourth healthiest housing market in the U.S.

With housing prices declining just 1.8 % last year (which is huge compared to other areas) and the average house costing $50K less than a similar house in other markets, San Antonio is still a great market for buyers and investors.

Incredibly, all of the top five cities on the list were in Texas. Houston ranked 1st, Austin 2nd and Ft. Worth third. Dallas came in fifth after San Antonio.

Well, bummer! We’ve been looking online at houses in the San Antonio area (we still have this crazy dream that we may be able to retire in the next year or so) and we were hoping for some sort of super-bargain price. On the bright side, the housing market in our part of the Denver metro area isn’t doing too badly so I guess I can be big about it and feel happy for San Antonio, too.

I am about 5 miles from Randolph Air Force Base, and 25 mins from Brook Army Medical Center and 30 mins from Lackland. If you are interested in my home, contact me or visit http://225WinterFrost.com.
