Things to do in San Antonio This Weekend

By May 14, 2009

So many things, only two days! Check out my May Calendar of Events for lots of things going on, and choose between them and these last-minute events:

Friday night is a great night for live music. SA Rocks is celebrating it's 4th anniversary with a live music show featuring Slurly, Alter Ego and The Works. The show starts at 8:00 p.m. at Boozehounds, 8531 Perrin Beitel Rd. Call (210) 590-3223 for more info.

There is a new Farmer's Market in town, and they are introducing themselves with a bang! On Saturday May 16th, come down to the Pearl Farmer's Market San Antonio and not only choose from some of the freshest produce around, but enjoy face painting, music and a cooking demonstration as well.

If you don't mind a short trip to LaVernia, you can attend the annual Bluebonnet Fest. On Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until dark, you can have fun at La Vernia City Park. The fun includes food, music, a carnival, a train and even helicopter rides!

Do you love to sing, and/or love the move "Grease?" If so, stop by The Barbed Wire Saturday night starting at 9:00 p.m. for a "Grease" sing-along! No cover charge and beer specials all night, guests are encouraged to wear your best T-Birds or Pink Ladies gear.

Sunday brings a nice change of pace with the San Antonio Conservation Society Anniversary at the Japanese Tea Gardens. Festivities include an expert panel to answer questions, traditional Taiko drums and Japanese and Okinawan dances. Call (210) 224-6163 for ticket prices and other info.

Also on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., Green Spaces Alliance presents the exhibit opening and awards ceremony for the Picture Your World Youth Photography Project. The venue is the The Guadalupe Theater, 1300 Guadalupe St. Call (210) 222-8430 or email info@greenspacesalliance.org for more info.
