With news this week about the closing of several local dealerships due to ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, all things economic locally may have looked a tad bleak.
But as stated before on this blog, San Antonio and Texas in general, happens to be weathering the financial storm much better than most. Proof of that comes with the recent release of April's unemployment statistics.
April unemployment in San Antonio fell half a point from 5.9% to 5.4%. In this economy, half a point is a huge amount, particularly since state and national unemployment levels were stagnant at 6.7% and 8.9%, respectively.
More than 1400 jobs were added locally in April, the fourth month in a row that San Antonio unemployment numbers showed improvement.
