Things to Do in San Antonio This Weekend

By July 23, 2009

The week is almost over, hooray! Is it just me, or has this been a long week? I am ready for the weekend! And luckily, there is plenty of things to do:

First, the San Antonio Missions will be giving away 11 used cars at the Friday game. Tickets are still available for the game, call the Missions box office at 210-675-7275 and enter for your chance to win.

The comedy "I Hate Hamlet" opens at the Cameo Theatre opens Saturday. Tickets range from $20-$29.50 and can be purchased directly at the website.

Also on Saturday, Jazz on Tap will be at the Carver Community Center. This musical and dance showcase tickets range from $25-30 and can be purchased in advance through TicketMaster.

Smith & Hawken at the Quarry Market is holding a 10:30 a.m. Saturday gardening presentation sponsored by Green Spaces Alliance.

The Maverick Plaza downtown will host the 2009 Conjunto Tardeada from 6:30-11:30 p.m. The music fest will showcase traditional Mexican folk music of button accordion and bajo sexto of San Antonio and South Texas. For more info, call 210-212-8560 or email conjunto.h.taller@sbcglobal.net.

Saturday also marks the Houston Street Fair and Market from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Bring a blanket or your lawn chairs and enjoy food, music and things like a moon bounce and face painting for the kids.

If all those Saturday activities didn't tire you out, Sunday is a little more low-key with a 30x30cm print event at the McNay at 2:00 p.m.

And finally, Gemini Ink is holding mutliple events this weekend including a Young Writer's Camp, a Festival Reading and a publishing seminar.
