Though there is plenty listed to do over this holiday weekend in the September Events Calendar, here are a few last-minute ideas as well.
The River Walk Extension will be the site of an Arts and Crafts Festival. The fest starts on Friday and goes all the way through Monday during the day. It will feature only handmade items from the artist/crafter themselves. It is open to the public, call 210-227-4262 if you would like more info.
On Saturday, the San Antonio Botanical Gardens begins a huge exhibit called Big Bugs. It features larger-than-life bugs and an educational lesson about their importance in the world. This exhibit is fun for the whole family with lots of arts and crafts related to the exhibit available.
The Texas Hill Fest has unfortunately been canceled. If you had tickets to the event, follow the link for information about how to get your refund.
If you don't mind taking a drive out to the Hill Country, the 18th Annual Kerrville Wine and Music Fest will be well worth your travel time. Several local vineyards will be on hand for wine tastings to go along with the food and live music. The event runs from Friday to Sunday.
And finally, the Alamo Empire will have all kinds of shenanigans going on over the weekend, everything from a bar crawl to brunch with proceeds benefiting the San Antonio AIDS Foundation.
