One of the famous Old Spanish Missions is about to close for two months for major renovations that will restore some of the centuries-old building to its former glory.
Mission Concepcion on the South side will undergo $15.5 million in repairs including paint, wall re-plastering and painting restoration.
The church is slated to re-open in time for Christmas. In the meantime, regular churchgoers who wish to attend mass there will be able to enjoy Sunday services outside of the church underneath the covered walkway. This service begins at 10:00 a.m.
All of the work on the Mission, which has been around since 1755, will be on the inside of the structure.
