The San Antonio Christopher Columbus Italian Society is kicking off a week's worth of celebrations in anticipation of Columbus Day, the day way back in 1492 that Columbus arrived in the Americas.
This Sunday, October 4th is the beginning of those celebrations. At 11:00 a.m. there will be a procession from the San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church to Columbus Square Park, where a wreath will be placed at the Columbus statue.
The Mayor will also be a part of the procession and give a proclamation. All of this begins after the conclusion of the 10:00 a.m. mass. You don't have to attend the mass in order to take part in the walk.
Check back for more blogs about the rest of the events in the next week as we get closer to them.
