New Construction to Increase in 2010 in Texas

By February 13, 2010

As people predict a slowdown in the economic recovery and maybe even a double-dip recession, Texas once again bucks the trend with an expected boost in 2010 new construction starts across the state.

The five of the biggest metro areas in the state (Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, San Antonio and El Paso) will all see upticks in the value of these construction projects, some of which is due to the economic stimulus dollars finally paying off.

Out of these five cities, San Antonio will actually see just a 6% rise, while Austin is the largest by far with a 30% increase, nearly double that is second-place Houston at 17%.

For a full breakdown of what sectors will have the biggest increase and which ones might actually be decreasing, see the article in this week's San Antonio Business Journal.
