Realizing that the future begins now and that education is a huge part of that, the city has announced plans for a $500,000 contract with the San Antonio Education Partnership to launch a college advisement center.
To be called the College Access and Opportunity Center, it is meant to help ease the huge burden of current high school guidance counselors, who sometimes face a 400:1 advisor-to-student ratio that is not conducive to really helping San Antonio high school students plan their future.
The Higher Education Council of San Antonio recommended this project.
Though the actual centers are not open yet, by the end of the 2009-10 school year, a website should be operational. Keep checking back here, as I will update this site with news and info about this exciting opportunity for San Antonio youth.
