UTSA Football Inks Deal with Arizona State

By April 10, 2010

Amidst grumblings of not playing any marquee teams in their inaugural season of football, UTSA officials have made sure to add some big-name schools as opponents in future seasons.

The Roadrunners announced that Arizona State will play a home-and-home series with UTSA in 2016 and 2018. This is in addition to a previous announcement about games against the Baylor Bears 2017, 2018 and 2019.

This gives fans hope that the plan for two years as an independent football club will lead to membership in the Football Bowl Subdivision, which is the highest membership in collegiate football and would make the Roadrunners eligible for championship and bowl games.

For more information about these announcement, see the San Antonio Business Journal.
