The Museum and Grounds:
McNay Art Museum underwent a major expansion and renovation that was finished in 2008 and cemented its place in San Antonio history. Open since the 1920s, it is a prime and gorgeous example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, one of the many styles of homes that are on display in Alamo Heights.
The museum and its grounds sprawl over a large 23 acre tract that houses picnic grounds, several outdoor art exhibits and a series of both permanent and traveling art exhibits.
The museum also houses a large library with over 30,000 volumes about art and artists. It is closed on weekends and Mondays.
