The Elf Louise Christmas Project

Christmas in San Antonio

Who: The Elf Louise Christmas Project
What: Large volunteer effort collects gifts to distribute to needy families throughout San Antonio and Bexar County.
Where: The 2009 location is the old Mervyn's store in South Park Mall, 2310 S.W. Military, Suite 2002, San Antonio, TX 78224.

Since 1969, Louise Locker (under the name Elf Louise) has been spreading holiday cheer to needy families by wrapping donated gifts to give to underprivileged children. She was a student at Trinity University and wanted to bring Christmas to children around San Antonio for whom there would be no gifts under the tree.

That first year, Louise helped a total of 13 families with the help of a good friend. From that first year, the Elf Louise Christmas Project now helps 5,800 families each year with a total of over 19,000 gifts donated by people like you. The Project has 501 (C)(3) Non-profit status and is funded entirely from donations and volunteers.

The Elf Louise Christmas Project also has their own philosophy that you can read about before you decide to either volunteer or donate.

Since the project depends on donated gifts, here is how you can help:
