San Antonio Voting Information

Voting Requirements in San Antonio

To vote in San Antonio you must:

  • Register to vote in the county in which you reside.
  • Be a citizen of the United States (including Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands).
  • Be at least 17 years and 10 months of age on the date you apply.
  • Be at least 18 years old on Election Day.
  • Not be convicted of a felony, or if you are a felon, you must have completed all of your punishment, including any term of incarceration, parole, supervision, period of probation, or received a pardon.
  • Not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court of law.

How to Register to Vote

To register to vote in San Antonio, you must fill out a voter registration application. You can find the application online, call and request it be sent to you, or pick up an application in person.

Online: Complete a voter registration application application from the Texas Secretary of State Website.
Print, sign and mail the form to:

Telephone: Call the Voter Registration office at 210-335-VOTE and request a voter registration application to be sent to you.

In Person: Visit the Voter Registration office at 233 N. Pecos la Trinidad, Suite 350 or the Elections Office at 203 W. Nueva, Suite 361 to request a voter registration application.

The completed form can be mailed to either Voter Registation Office or the Elections Office. It must be postmarked 30 days before an election for you to be eligible to vote in that particular election.

Where to Vote

Polling places are usually listed in the local newspaper in the weeks before the election. Locations will also be posted on the County Elections Department Website. You can also call your County Clerk or County Elections Administrator in order to find your polling location.

Voting Early

Early voting is a way to cast your ballot before Election Day either in person or by mail.

In person: Call your Elections Administrator for early voting dates, hours and places.

By mail: If you will be:

  1. Out of the county during early voting and on Election Day
  2. Age 65 or older
  3. Sick or disabled
  4. Confined to jail

You should call the Elections Administrator and ask him to send you an application for a ballot by mail. Or, you may request one from the Secretary of State’s Office at 1-800-252-VOTE (8683).
