About San Fernando Cathedral: San Fernando Cathedral is located at 115 Main Plaza in San Antonio's Main Plaza Historic District. The beautiful structure, located on Main Avenue between Commerce and Delorosa Streets, is one of San Antonio's well-known landmarks.

San Fernando Cathedral History: San Fernando Cathedral was founded in 1731 by a group of families from the Canary Islands who came to the area at the invitation of King Phillip V of Spain. The church was to become a hub for the community.
In 1868, the church was greatly enlarged by adding a gothic structure to the east side of the original church building. In 2003, the San Fernando Cathedral underwent a $6 million restoration.
San Fernando Cathedral Services: Over 5,000 San Antonians and visitors participate at weekend Masses at San Fernando Cathedral each week.
The cathedral is also home to 100's of weddings, funerals, baptisms and other special events. Tour buses arrive at the Cathedral each day as hundreds of people visit the structure.

San Fernando Cathedral Gift Shop: Los Padrecitos, the cathedral's gift shop, sells souvenirs, jewelry, crosses, trinkets and other items. The gift shop is located near the front entrance of the cathedral.
