The Alamo

Situated on 4.2 acres of well-preserved land in the heart of downtown, the Alamo is a testament to the struggle for independence that many Texans faced in the early 1800s. Though the famous Battle of the Alamo happened in 1836, the mission had already been around for over 100 years before that, as you will learn once you tour the structure with either a guide or on your own. Admission is free, though donations are accepted as the only income generated other than donations is from the gift shop located inside.
