About Retama Park: If you are looking for horse racing in San Antonio, head to Retama Park. Retama Park offers quarterhorse and thoroughbred racing in season, and simulcast racing all year round. You can bet on the horses or just watch.

Retama Park is located at 1 Retama Parkway on the northeast side of San Antonio in Selma. The park is near the intersection of IH-35 and Loop 1604. From Loop 1604, exit Lookout Road and follow the signs to Retama Park.

Live Racing at Retama Park: Live quarterhorse racing begins in May and runs through late June. Live thoroughbred racing begins in September and runs through November. Visit the Retama Park website for exact dates and post times. Parking is $2.00 on live racing days, except 50 cent Fridays, when it's $5.00.

Simulcast Racing at Retama Park: All year round you can enjoy simulcast racing at Retama Park. The park opens daily at 10:30am. Simulcast admission is $2.00 per person with free parking. During simulcast racing you can bet on races at dozens of parks around the country.
Placing a Bet at Retama Park: If you are a novice to betting on the horses, check out the Betting The Racing section on the Retama Park website. You can bet on horses to win (1st place), place (2nd place) or show (3rd place) or any number of different other kinds of bets. Standard straight wagers start at a minimum of $2.00 each.

To place a bet, you can go up to the betting window and place your bet with the teller or use one of the numerous self-service betting machines throughout the facility. If you ever have any questions about placing a bet, the tellers are more than happy to answer all your questions.

Watching the Races at Retama Park: The general admission price allows you to sit indoors on the grandstand level or outside on track level in the bleachers. You can also get reserved and box seats in a variety of locations throughout Retama Park.

Grandstand Level (the floor directly above track level)

  • Indoor Seating - No additonal cost
  • Grandstand Box Seats
    • Per seat - $2.00 (two seat minimum)
    • Box of four seats - $8.00

Clubhouse Level (completely enclosed and airconditioned)

  • Clubhouse Reserved Seats - $3.00
  • Clubhouse Box Seats
    • Per seat - $5.00 (two seat minimum)
    • Box of four seats - $20.00
Eating at Retama Park: Throughout the facility, you will find plenty of snack bar food, including sodas, beer, hotdogs, sandwiches and much more. Additionally, there is dining in the Terrace Dining Room on the Clubhouse level, which serves fine cuisine and an all-you-can-eat buffet. The Terrace Dining Room also has a terrific view of the track.

The Championship Sports Bar offers appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and a full bar. You can watch various sporting events on their multitude of TVs.

50 cent Fridays at Retama Park: Through live racing season, Retama Park designates various dates as 50 cent Fridays. During these special evenings, there is live music, face painting, pony rides, games and prizes for kids of all ages. Admission is free. Programs, soda and hotdogs are 50 cents and beer is only a dollar.
