Everyone knows about Fiesta San Antonio in April, but the city of San Antonio has festivals all year long. Here are a few of the winter festivals that your family can enjoy in upcoming months.

December Festivals in San Antonio

  • FORD Holiday River Parade & Lighting Ceremony
    11/23/07
    Every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, San Antonians and visitors gather on the banks of the San Antonio River for the Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony. Over 122,000 lights are turned on, which illuminate the San Antonio River Walk every night through January 1st.
  • Kristkindlmarkt
    12/01/07
    Enjoy German foods, beverages, music, entertainment, hand-crafted Christmas gifts and much more at Kristkindlmarkt. This authentic German outdoor event takes place at Beethoven Halle. Call Kay Locher at (210) 930-6374 for more information. More Holiday Markets.
  • Fiestas Navidenas
    11/30/07 through December
    This festival celebrates Mexican Christmas traditions in San Antonio's downtown Market Square. Enjoy Mexican food, music, dance and more. Great for children. Admission is free to the events, which include 31st Annual Blessing of the Animals (December 8th) and La Gran Posada (December 16th). For more information call (210) 207-8600.
  • Fiesta de las Luminarias
    11/30/07 - 12/16/07
    The 2,500 luminarias illuminate the San Antonio River Walk, symbolizing lighting the way for the Holy Family.

January Festivals in San Antonio

  • River Walk Mud Festival
    01/10/2008 - 01/13/2008
    To celebrate the annual draining of the San Antonio River, Michelob sponsors the Mud Festival, which included a ball, an arts and crafts fair, the coronation of the Mud King and Queen, and a parade. For more information call (210) 227-4262.
  • MLK March
    01/21/08
    The largest march and commemorative program in the nation which honors and celebrates the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The days leading up to MLK Day are also full of events and activities.

February Festivals in San Antonio

  • San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo
    01/31/08 - 02/17/08
    This two-week rodeo includes the livestock show, horse show, carnival and much more. The rodeo has about 4000 volunteers. The event raises money for education. In 2006 the rodeo contributed $7.2 million in scholarships, endowments, and other educational commitments. For more information, call (210) 225-0575.
  • Mardi Gras River Parade & Art/CraftFair
    02/02/08 - 02/03/08
    Decorated river barges, live entertainment, and an arts & craft show highlight this fun-filled weekend. Call (210) 227-4262 for more details.
  • Asian New Year Festival
    02/09/08
    Asian food, martial arts, dance and other customs are highlighted at the Institute of Texan Cultures Asian New Year Festival. Admission is $7 for adults and $4 for children 3 & up, seniors and military. For more information, call (210) 458-2330.
  • San Antonio Wine Festival
    02/15/08 - 02/17/08
    The Wine Festival is a three-day annual event each February, benefiting KLRN public television. Call (210) 270-9000 for more details.
