July 4th Celebration at Woodlawn Lake Park is the official City of San Antonio 4th of July event. Since 2001, the event has been put on by the city's Parks and Recreation Department in conjunction with the San Antonio Parks Foundation.
The celebration features a parade, musical entertainment, food booths, carnival rides and a special area for kids. The evening culminates with a spectacular fireworks display - H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza.

The day kicks off with the costume contest and parade. Put on your patriotic, red, white and blue outfit and march around the park in this fun parade. Kids of all ages dress up in costumes and participate.
Contestants should meet for judging at the Woodlawn Lake Gym, which is located at Cincinnati and Alexander, at 10:00am. The parade will begin around 11:30am. Winners in several categories will be announced at the conclusion of the parade. The parade is coordinated by the Monticello Park Neighborhood Association.

- 7:30pm - USAF Band of the West

The July 4th Celebration Kid's Zone is sponsored by Rio San Antonio Cruises. The kids area features carnival rides, games, contests, and arts and crafts.

Woodlawn Lake Park is a 62-acre facility located just northwest of downtown San Antonio. From the downtown area, take IH-10 West. The interstate will split to upper and lower levels. Take the lower level to the Cincinnati St. Exit. Exit and turn left onto Cincinnati St. About a mile down, you'll see the park and its beautiful lake on your right. You can't miss it!
